This reminds me of a psychology experiment that began after 4 very large draft beers. Clearly, I’m not a professional.

At this particular bar there were 4 urinals. I asked all the guys that were in our group which urinal they would use, given that all 4 were available. Except for one person who said, “the closest one to the door”, they all responded “3rd”.

Why? Because you don’t want to be immediately by the door, but you don’t want to be against the wall either. If that one is taken, the next choice is first, in order to give a buffer zone. Then second, then fourth, in that order because no one wanted to be up against the wall.

This is in direct opposition to stall usage. In bathrooms with multiple stalls & toilets, anecdotal evidence given by janitors (as in, I read it somewhere a while ago) states that the last stall furthest from the door is the most used.

I have no data that I can link to. I do know that no one wants to be crowded at a urinal, though.

Clearly, you are wrong. My very scientific method of drinking-a-bunch-of-draft-beers-and-then-having-to-pee says so.

Less than 10 seconds of thought was put into this, and fortunately there were no instances of all urinals but one being used to put the theory to the test.
